THREE BY THREE

Age 5 to 11
Challenge Level

Arrange three red, three blue and three yellow counters into a three-by-three square grid, so that there is only one of each color in every row and every column.

Possible extension

This problem can be extended by adding a fourth color and using a 4 by 4 grid.

An additional challenge is to ensure that the main diagonals are also free of repetitions.
